Description
Photography • Silkscreen
KYPSELI POSTCARDS is a workshop that combines photography, handmade silkscreen printing and a walk in the city.
Participants create unique, handmade postcards that capture the modern, multicultural identity of Kypseli — as they see it, as they live it, as they feel it. The image of the city is transformed into an art object and the act of printing becomes a gesture of connection, experimentation and exchange.
The photos are sent before the workshop via email so that they can be properly prepared and ready for printing. In the workshop we will talk about the technique, its little secrets and we will print them as postcards using monochrome and monoprint techniques. The essence is inks, hands, images, mistakes that become part of the process and the joy of printing.
No previous experience is required. All you need is observation, curiosity, and a willingness to get your hands a little dirty with ink.
The workshop can also be held in English.
CURATOR BIO
@druscreenprints
DRU (aka Georgina Malavazou) is an illustrator and screen printer. She carves obsessions and the little perversions of everyday life. After 12 years in advertising, she abandoned the «right» for the real. She took the squeegee and hit the road — literally. Live printing, travels, faces, moments. Nothing is fully controlled — and that’s the point. She works with her hands. Inks, textures, mistakes. Prints on handmade papers, clothes, limited pieces and anything else that can carry an idea. DIY to the bone. Perfectly imperfect, unapologetic. She organizes workshops and events where the process opens up, gets mixed up with other techniques and becomes collective. No rules, no «right» and «wrong». Only instinct, experimentation and that moment when something unexpected works. Goal: the joy of creation.
